Go ahead, hug a tree. But don’t forget to hug yourself too, because whether you know it or not, you are 90% post consumer recycling.
__________
Welcome to today. It is Wednesday where I live, but it could be Tuesday or Thursday depending on where you are… If you are retired or on vacation, it could be any day of the week that you want!
Today is more than today. You and I are living off of yesterday. I try not to, but I can’t help it. I try to be present focused and live more consciously. But my biology, my psychology and my sociology are filled with yesterdays.
You and I live off of our own recycling and we are mostly post-consumer recycled materials. You and I are unique, but we are uniquely remade from what we did yesterday (and the other day… and the day before that).

You and I live off of our own recycling and we are mostly post-consumer recycled materials. You and I are unique, but we are uniquely remade from what we did yesterday (and the other day… and the day before that). You and I live off of our own recycled air, recycled food, recycled thoughts and recycled actions.
I’m not trying to be gross, just reflective. The past is not a bad thing. I ate a lot of good stuff yesterday and I did some interesting things. But there was also the ice cream sandwich, the diet coke, the traffic-stress and parental angst… Who you and I are today is a product of our yesterdays.
If you want to know how you got to be where you are at are today, all that you have to do is look at the past few weeks: what you ate, what you watched, who you were with and how you slept.
Today is a product of what went on yesterday.
I am not into doom and gloom. You and I are not doomed to poor decision making or bad habits. Every time you and I choose to be our better self right now, we are investing in a better future self.
Our bodies do not live by a clock, we live more by an internal song… a rhythm. It’s the crayola in our craniums, it’s the song in our souls that can make us new each day. |
You and I are walking miracles. We are mostly water, with equal bits of energy and recycled stuff … and a little bit of crayola crayons thrown in for inspiration. Our bodies do not live by a clock, we live more by an internal song… a rhythm. It’s the crayola in our craniums, it’s the song in our souls that can make us new each day.
Today can be better. We can’t change our yesterdays… but our next set of yesterdays begins right now.
