“Heroin… it’s not a drug you take to make your life better, which is what I’m looking for, it’s a drug that empties you out of one life and pours you wholesale into another one completely where it’s all very fucking wonderful but the drug is the only way into it and the only way of staying there… heroin is in the air and it is the air.”

Drug use, it begins as a solution. We don’t want to feel. Or think. Or remember. But then it takes over. It becomes life itself. It surrounds and it fills us, like has become the air inside our lungs.
Whether we use drugs, drink, shop compulsively, gamble, eat compulsively, look at porn or become attached to the business end of a smartphone… The drug may be different, but the end is the same.

At first it is a way to not feel anything, but then our drug becomes a prison.
Whether we use drugs, drink, shop compulsively, gamble, eat compulsively, look at porn or become attached to the business end of a smartphone… The drug may be different, but the end is the same.
We live in a world invested in helping you and I escape. But the escape we are promised is no escape. Buy, own, invest, chase, dream, buy in, buy more, sell out, settle…
Finding ways to breathe your own air is the only escape that you need. At times, we all need help, but the first real breath that we take is a breath of fresh air. Today, taking a breath… and being a breath of fresh air – that is the freedom we all crave.
Can you take time today to take a fresh breath?

I love that quote in your penultimate paragraph, ‘Finding ways to breathe your own air is the only escape that you need.’ That is an amazing quote! I’m sure you have many more, so I am looking forward to reading more of your wise posts. Have a great day.
